A parent's guide to wee

Everything you need to know about how wee helps your child become a confident, happy reader — and how you can support them along the way.

Parent reading with child

How it works for your family

Getting started takes just a few minutes. Here's what to expect.

1

Create your account

Sign up with Google or email. Then add a reader profile for each child — just a name and optional birthday.

2

Take the diagnostic

A quick, fun test finds the right reading level. It covers sounds, decoding, sight words, and fluency — and takes about 5 minutes.

3

Let them play

Your child gets a personal login code — no email needed. They pick exercises, earn XP, unlock animals, and build reading skills through play.

10+ evidence-based exercises

Every game is grounded in reading science and designed by specialists.

Phonics

Phonics & Sounds

Sound Builder, Rhyme Rider, Syllable Smash and Letter Detective build the foundations of decoding.

Fluency

Fluency & Speed

Echo Reader and Speed Reading train fluent, confident reading with modeled pronunciation.

Comprehension

Safety and privacy

Your child's safety comes first

We built wee with privacy at its core. Here's what that means in practice.

  • No ads, ever — wee is completely ad-free. No trackers, no data selling.
  • GDPR compliant — We follow strict EU privacy regulations, including Article 8 for children's consent.
  • COPPA aligned — We meet the 2025 US children's privacy rules, including biometric protections for voice data.
  • Parental control — Voice recording requires explicit parental consent and can be deleted instantly.
  • Minimal data — We only store what's needed: progress, preferences, and an optional voice sample.

Your child's own reading voice

An optional feature that uses AI voice cloning to boost confidence.

Research shows that hearing yourself read fluently — even before you can — builds self-efficacy and reader identity. With parental consent, your child can record a short voice sample. The AI then generates example readings in their own voice, so they hear "themselves" reading confidently.

This is fully optional, requires your explicit consent, and the voice sample can be deleted anytime from Settings. See the research →

Tips for supporting your reader

Small habits that make a big difference.

1

Keep it short & fun

10-15 minutes a day is better than an hour once a week. Consistency builds fluency.

2

Celebrate effort, not just results

Praise the practice, not just the score. "You worked really hard on that!" goes a long way.

3

Read together

Reading aloud with your child — even after they can read alone — strengthens vocabulary and bonding.

4

Let them choose

Let your child pick which exercises to play. Autonomy increases motivation and engagement.

5

Check progress together

Review the progress reports as a team. Kids love seeing their word count and streak grow!

6

Use Reading Comfort

If your child finds reading tiring, try the dyslexia-friendly fonts, tinted backgrounds, or reading ruler.
