Your privacy matters

Wee is an educational reading app for children aged 5–12. We take your family's privacy very seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it — in plain language.

Who is responsible?

Wee is the data controller for the personal data processed through this application. We are based in the European Union and fully comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What data do we collect?

Account data

When you create an account, we store your email address and display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google — nothing else.

Learning progress

We store exercise results, reading speed, XP points, level, and streak data so your child can track their progress and pick up where they left off.

Preferences

Language choice and reading comfort settings (font, spacing, colors) are stored locally on your device using localStorage. These never leave your browser.

What we do NOT collect

  • We do not show advertisements
  • We do not use third-party trackers or analytics
  • We never sell or share personal data with third parties
  • We do not collect location data
  • We do not perform automated profiling or decision-making

Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for the application to function (authentication session). We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. Your cookie consent preference is stored in your browser's localStorage.

Legal basis for processing

We process personal data based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) when you create an account, and on legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) for essential application functionality. For children under 16, parental consent is required as per Article 8 GDPR.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Request erasure of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Withdraw consent at any time

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently erased within 30 days.

Data security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel only. We regularly review our security practices.
